PLENTY OF NEWS AND CHANGES FOR 2010 FROM ACF

The New Year has barely started, but we are very excited about the updates and changes occurring at ACF for 2010, here is just a brief overview…

For 2010, we’ve added numerous major studios and thousands of films to our collection. These include Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Screen Gems, Triumph Films,

Destination Films, Stage 6 Productions, HBO Films, and TVA Films. These studios and producers represent in excess of 4500 additional titles to our film library!

In the event that your organisation is already licensed under a yearly blanket licensing agreement with Criterion Pictures / The Visual Education Center, please take note of the following facts.

  •  Licenses issued or automatically renewed with Criterion PRIOR to February 1, 2010 will include rights to Sony Pictures Entertainment, but only for the duration of your current license (12 months maximum) with them. After your current agreement with them expires, all rights for Sony Pictures Entertainment will revert to ACF and no longer be available from Criterion. No licenses issued or automatically renewed with Criterion may include rights for Sony Pictures Entertainment beyond April 30, 2011.
  •  License issued or renewed with Criterion AFTER January 31, 2010 will not, under any circumstance, include rights to Sony Pictures Entertainment and associated studios.

Our website (www.acf-film.com) has been completely updated and remodelled. New functions, features and information are now available for quick viewing.

 Annual Film License

As a benefit to our member schools MFIS has negotiated film licensing coverage contracts with two film licensing companies, Audio Cine Films and Criterion Films, in order to provide the best coverage possible.  MFIS members pay for this coverage as part of their annual membership fees.

These licenses cover all films viewed within class time.  Schools are required to submit viewing reports to each company 3 times per school year – December, March and June.

Extended Day coverage

If a school also plans to show films in a before/after school program or during the lunch hour they must purchase an additional license for extended day coverage by contacting the MFIS office.  The same reporting process is required for the extended day viewing.

For more information on your film licensing coverage or for reporting procedures and other information please click on the tabs in the drop down menu for either ACF or VEC.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your film licensing coverage please do not hesitate to contact the MFIS office.
