FREE TEACHERS GUIDES:  VEC has recently partner with a company called TEACHING WITH MOVIES.ORG.  Through this partnership, VEC will be providing free access to more than 100 Feature Film Teacher’s guides for all Educational License holders.  Each teacher will have unlimited access to our new TEACHER’s dedicated section of our website.  Each guide is extensive and will provide teachers with access to educationally valuable materials, tips, and topic suggestions. Most guides are tied to a form of “character education” as well as relating to the literary adaptation they represent. Most of these guides have been written by teachers for teachers.

VEC will be adding a minimum of TWO new guides per month and we welcome your suggestions. We have spent considerable time reviewing “screening” reports submitted, as well as hiring some educational consultants.

Feature films have a solid place in the educational market. VEC’s license will not only provide your teachers with the necessary copyright protection to the majority of feature films used in the Canadian classroom, BUT will now provide them with detailed lesson plans, discussion topics, related subject material, etc.

Once your PPLL renewal has been finalized, in order to access the guide, enter our Web Site:  www.criterionpic.com, and click on the “Teach With Movies” Symbol, or enter directly using the URL: http://www.criterionpic.com/CPL/lcl_guides.html, and then simply click on the guide that interests you, and then click on the Apple. From there you will be asked to enter your user name and password. A username and password will be supplied to you in your renewal package.

For the first time, Mongrel has agreed to allow these fabulous documentaries to be included in a blanket licensing agreement.  Mongrel’s collection also includes all the titles from SONY PICTURES CLASSIC.  Again, this is the first time that this wonderful collection has been made available in this licensing format.

BIG IDEA PRODUCTIONS: VEC added BIG IDEA in 2008, as this collection includes the entire Veggie Tale product!  This programming is exceptional for the early years and widely used for Character education.
